It's a race lifer as I've already captured the white throated race in Makiling a while back. Plain-throated Sunbird (Anthreptes malacensis heliolusius) Endemic race - Tawan-tawan, Mlang, North Cotabato, May 25, 2010 5DM2 + 600 L f4 IS + 1.4x Sigma TC, f5.6, 1/800 sec., ISO 1250, Tv priority, +1 EV, Tripod-Gimbal support, in available light. Just for comparison here's the white throated race birgitae.

Wow..... and that Mindanao swing isn't even a birding sortie! Thanks Ely and Ka Mastah! I don't know but for some reason if I schedule a birding trip the target birds don't show-up, so now, I "just go and do it" ;)and surprisingly I end up with more captures .

Thanks Renoir, Edu, Bobby and Nilo! Yeah, Nilo, for some reason none birding trips are more productive By the way I caught the female as well... Plain-throated Sunbird - Female ( Anthreptes malacensis heliolusius) - Tawan-tawan, Mlang, North Cotabato, May 24, 2010 5DM2 + 600 L f4 IS + 1.4x Sigma TC, f8, 1/1000 sec, ISO 3200, Av priority, Tripod-Gimbal support in available light

Congrats Neon! Some authors have split one of these to be the Brown-throated Sunbird, adding another endemic to our list. I'm just not sure which one was rendered endemic.
