Finally!! after chasing this bird for ages, got one out in the open. The light wasn't that good yet but having a 5D was an advantage. It was eating fallen seeds, in the middle of the rough road, near UPM-indanao, of the tree similar to what Ding have behind his house in Antipolo. This tree is a must have if someone is looking for a tree to plant to attract birds in a farm or garden. I'll ask my Brother-in-law if he can get some seeds for me. Was able sneak out again early in the morning before the start of activities for the day. ;D Emerald Dove ( Chalcophaps indica) - UPM, Mintal, Davao City, May 30, 2010 5DM2 + 600 L f4 IS + 1.4x TC, f6.3, 1/100 sec., ISO 2000, Tv priority, Car window support in available light.

This shot (colors and feather details) gave justice to the name of the bird. Congrats Neon.

Wow, what a shot! I remember this Dove along the road as we travelled from Baler, Aurora to Manila. Mark who was not feeling well suddenly yelled and pointed towards this Emerald, and we, Toto, Den and I, jumped out and tried to shoot some frames!
But this pic is excellent!

Thanks, Alain! This bird was on my most wanted list for more than 3 years, all my previous captures were blurred or very long shots. It's good that I've ticked it off my most wanted list already Here's some more shots, I was hoping for the bird to land on top of the rocks beside the road, for a level shot and it did! f 5.6, 1/200 sec., ISO 3200 After several dozen shots while it was foraging and bobbing its head while walking, lucky to have one that froze it. This is the maximum speed, under available light, while I tried to lower the ISO to 1600. f 5.6, 1/200 sec., Tv + 2/3 EV.
