The Blue Naped Parrots of Subic were very active and all over the place. They seem to like the trees that look like pines -- agoho? We were waiting for the bee eaters in the afternoon when a flock of Blue Naped Parrots showed up instead. I really enjoyed watching them. I like the way they walk up branch by grasping it with their claws. They seem so flexible, agile, and playful! BLUE NAPED PARROT Tanygnathus lucionensisf7.1, 1/250, iso 250 f6.3, 1/320, iso500 f6.3, 1/250, iso500 f6.3, 1/320, iso500 Canon 7D + 300 2.8 IS + 1.4x tc + feisol tripod + markin ballhead, manual exposure

The BNP looks very playful and entertaining. Very nice exposure considering the backlight. You did a very nice series. I wish I was there. Well done Sylvia. Mabuhay.

Hi Sylvia, Nice capture. How many did you see? I once also saw a flock of at least 40 BNPs in the same kind of trees in Subic.

Thank you for the comments Dennis, Ely, Mark, Renoir, Bob, and Romy! There were around 7 of them in the tree. It seems like such an unlikely pairing -- a very tropical looking parrot and a pine tree. I was surprised! Last week, we also saw Guiaberos in the "pine trees" in front of Puerto Azul.

Thanks Neon and Bobby! Neon -- they were very noisy and visible when were in Subic. We even saw them near the 24-hr mini-mart when we stopped there to buy breakfast.
