Having wanted to take some pictures of the famous Blue-throated Bee-eater (Merops viridis) at Subic, I came across the Green Racquet-tail and was late for the photo session with the Bee-eaters as the sun was starting to get harsh. I have taken pictures in the past of birds having food in their mouth but this is the first time that I have seen such a wide variety of insects being taken by the Bee-eaters. There are small insects and large ones too. It was really a delightful birding day. I will share those delightful moments with you with these photos. Canon 1D Mark IV, EF 800mm f5.6 IS L Lens, Pictures taken with bean bag from car window. Manual Exposure in available light. BRAVO! BRAVO, Ely! To borrow Jacky Chan's favorite quip (in Little Big Brother)... Marvelous, your captures are simply marvelous! I am glad that there is no butterfly amongst the captures . lyd. PS. A bird played a nice role in the funny movie, very entertaining. Im a big fan lof Jacky Chan. He is a nature guy in real life. Maybe someone can identify the little bird, not sure if it is virtual.

Excellent series Ambassador Ely T! Wish I was there with you! :-) Thank you Bobby. Perhaps you can consider taking a vacation here for a change of environment. I am sure you have lots of friends to welcome you. I for one would like to meet you in person. Be sure to come before the rainy season or the Bee-eaters will be gone.

I loved all the photos! These are certainly top-candidates for the contest! It is indeed delightful to see the bird/s with different menus on its beak.

I loved all the photos! These are certainly top-candidates for the contest! It is indeed delightful to see the bird/s with different menus on its beak. Thank you Ariel. None of the birds will qualify for the contest because these pictures were taken before the start of the contest. There is a time frame of May 16 to June 15 for the first monthly contest, so only pictures take on those dates will qualify. I assure you that there will be a lot of better entries than this set of pictures.
