Wow, what a beautiful shot. Its super sharp and full of details. I wish I can do the same with my 300mm. How close were you to the bird? Well done Jacci. Mabuhay (Long Live Jacci).

Thank you everyone for the comments Ely, yeah I was pretty close, any closer and I think I'd have real trouble framing this chap. The Azure is a very small kingfisher but couple of times I was not able to focus on him at all as he was within the 2.5m MFD on my 300, witnessing only a blurred head bobbing in the viewfinder! LOL I believe regular visits to this spot means the KFs are now more used to my presence, thus not being too shy in coming real close to the hide.. As long as I'm still and quiet Cheers guys!

Thank you Jacci for sharing your experience. Now I am convince that a hide can really make the bird come closer as if you are not there at all. I experienced this when I went birding with my friend JV and he had a hide like a tent. We were inside and when the bird came closer than my 6M MFD, I tried to switch to my 300mm but did not get a very good shot. Only problem is that its so hot and humid in our country that we both look like we came out of a sauna. LOL
