I spent lunchbreak at UP Frogs this afternoon, hoping to get a crack at the WBM. I saw them but they went up the bamboos and didn't give me pose. This fellow however, came out of nowhere, stayed 3 seconds on a stick before flying away into the banana trees deeper into the field. My best capture of the bird so far. Camera: Nikon D300S Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160) Aperture: f/7.1 Focal Length: 500 mm ISO Speed: 320 Exposure Bias: 0 EV Flash: No Flash

Its moments like this that we don't like but it also makes it a bigger thrill to be catching the moment when the time comes. Its still a good shot from the rear. Now you have a reason to go back. Mabuhay.

Nice catch Gabs! I like the pose, seldom that we see the backside of birds.

ha, ha, ha... that's a bit strange as for me, most of my better captures are the backs of birds... maybe i am in the wrong side of the frame. or maybe our avian friends just want to keep their backs on me.

Nice one Gabs. Most pictures taken from the back do not work unless you're fortunate enough to get a look back from the bird with a good eye contact and this capture certainly works for me.

Nice catch, Gabs! A back view is good when the head shows and the bird does a look-back which this shot certainly shows.

Great shot, Gabs. I like taking the back part of birds, it shows their color.

I like backview shots of birds... it's where a greater part of their colors and feather details are visible, even from afar.. and it shows in your photograph! -- Nice bumping into you too that unforgettable hot morning!

thanks! learning a lot on why capturing the back of birds is good. i just hope they keep looking back. (i guess, it's when they start hearing the shutter that they make that split second look back.)
i was also lucky this one perched low, thus the back details.
cheers!
