Friends from my hometown Malolos visited me last night. By the time they left, it was already 1am. That's why when I got an early text from Edu that he was in UP, I replied saying I couldn't join him and just extend my regards to Doc Mando. It didn't take long before I realized that I might be committing a regrettable decision. So in 10 mins, I was in UP tracking down 2 birdnuts. All shots taken with a D300s, Bigma 500mm ISO 640, using Gimbal Support, levels adjusted and cropped. 1/1000s f9 1/400s f9 1/500s f8

i'd say less than 10 meters Toto. It was quite close and our position was elevated. Edu nailed the same bird with a 400.

Looks like the bird is still cleaning the hole. We will have a lot of time to take photos of this bird. I like the third picture as the bird really looks naughty. Well done Gabs. Mabuhay.

thanks JP, Ariel, Ka Mastah, and Mark! It would have been more sleepless nights if I didn't go and later see your buddies' wonderful captures.
Note to self... think very hard before letting a birding opportunity pass.
