Went to Candaba today with birding buddy Gabs and was fortunate enough that there were other birdnuts that alerted us to the presence of this angry looking bird. Taiga Goose Nikon D90 + Nikon 80-400VR at 400mm f5.6, ISO200, 1/800, Manfrotto 475 + benro ball-head I still like the Philippine Duck as it looks like it is smiling while this HUGE sanamagan looks like popeye to me ARRRRRRRR..... ;D

Excellent picture. It looks like you were within 30 meters of the goose. Is it still on the big pond in front of the concrete structure? Well done Edu. Mabuhay.

Thank you sir Ely. My spacial skills are not really that sharp but if my memory serves me right (from my ROTC days as a shooting team member), yes this is within 30meters. As for the exact location, I am not sure of which concrete structure you are referring to but this was taken from the side of the road parallel to the mayor's house. Thank you, sir Bob.. I was not the only one who got a picture of this huge bird, but I do consider myself extremely lucky I also have a picture of it in flight but not that good.

Sir William, thank you sir. I know how high your standards are and you taking time to look and post is deeply appreciated. Gabs.. I also have in-flight shots but I just can't find myself to like its fearsome "toothed grin" Sir neon, I am more glad. Had you not informed us we would not have had the chance to take these photos. Your camo was incredible, when i was looking for a spot/angle I almost stepped on you haha! Thanks Ariel. This is another lifer for me.

Great capture of that bird Edu! It does look naturally angry - not like its Philippine counterpart, which always looks happy! :-)

Nice one Edu! I like the pose, very "goose-like". And nice to be able to see the orange legs!

Thank you, JP. Am still mustering the courage to do a wild-man thing but my D90 I am afraid is not "JP Proof" Paglaki ko.. gagayahin kita.. (I will be like you when I grow up) Sir Bobby, yes.. that is why I processed only this one even if I have over twenty pics of it. hehe Mam Sylvia, thank you so much. Had the Cinnamon bittern moved closer I would have had a photo that showed how huge it is, but I guess either the size of the goose or those angry looking "teeth" was enough to make the bittern change its mind.
