I went birding at UP last March 31 and met up with Bob, Bert, Mando, and Bong. I forgot all about these pictures until I saw the beautiful video of JV of the Colasisi. Sharing with you some pictures of this skittish Guaiabero but lovable bird. They look different from the Guaiabero of Lubigan, Tarlac because they have a shade of blue on their face. I met Prop Jerry when I was about to leave and he told me that its possible that the bird in Lubigan was not yet mature. Guaiabero (Bolbopsittacus lunulatus). Endemic to the Philippines. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, EF 800mm f5.6 IS L Lens, Manfrotto 475B Tripod, MF 373 Gimbal Head I learned something from Pogito today so I will apply what I learned. All pictures taken with "Manual Exposure in Available Light". Thank you Pogito. At the suggestion of Neon, I have made the WB of the pictures warmer and I like it better now. Thank you Neon. ISO 800, 1/80, f5.6 ISO 800, 1/80, f5.6 ISO 800, 1/250, f5.6

Wow!! Great catch of the seldom seen bird at UPD, Ely!! Excellent captures in all. It's just me and everyone has his own taste, I find the WB a little bit warm which made the overall color yellowish. The guiabero is dimorphic (different color pattern between sexes) male guiabero has more blue to its face which your bird have. Also, the neckring of the male is blue which is evident in the last photo, females have yellow. Now that you mentioned it, I agree with you that it is yellowish. I will see if there is something I can do about it. Thank you for pointing it out to me in such a gentlemanly manner. I noticed that the blue tint of your Guaisbero is deep blue. Is it really like that, if it is it makes it look more beautiful.

Very beautiful! The bird looks small in actual and yet it came out very nicely. Thank you Ariel. The Colasisi and Guaiabero are two endemic birds that look and act very naughty for us bird photographers.

Very well captured Ely. The details are outstanding. This bird is on top of my photo and filming wishlist. Congratulations. Thank you JV. The Guaiabero takes turns with the Colasisi in appearing among the trees where the Camachile is located. Give it a try the next time you go there.
