Many thanks to JP, Felix and Ryan for making this possible. It was an experience so unlike the others. The Philippine Trogon (Harpactes ardens) is a species of bird in the Trogonidae family. It is endemic to the Philippines. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_TrogonCamera: Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Exposure: 0.004 sec (1/250) Aperture: f/6.3 Focal Length: 800 mm ISO Speed: 4000 Exposure Bias: +2/3 EV Exposure Program: Shutter speed priority AE Metering Mode: Multi-segment Support: Gimbal + Tripod

Thank you gents. Indeed it is in the Isle of Bohol in which I took the photos at. I just wish I was afforded a higher vantage point as the background is a wee too bright near the head.

Very nice capture of one of my most wanted bird. The pose of the bird is the most ideal because you get to see the front and the back of the bird at the same time. You were at the right place at the right time. Well done Paolo. Mabuhay.

It's your big trophy, Paolo. Bravo!
PS. It is my wish that Filipinos will realize the need to preserve our beautiful natural treasures. I hope pictures like this will build awareness, appreciation and protection to all who will see it. I hate it when the thought comes that showing it will make bird collectors/traders go looking for it. As an organized club, we can be the "armed" force that can combat the illegal hunting and trade of wildlife using the photos to get attention. May all the photos posted in this Forum be put to good use. for the protection of the habitat, telyds

Thank you Ding, Tyleds and JP. Dude you aint kidding about the birds of Bohol. They appear to just line themselves up for the opportune moments.
Anyone planning a trip to Bohol should do so before the monsoon season hits to have the most light. It was my first time in the forest and was woefully unprepared with the lighting conditions.
it reminds me of shooting inside a place of worship where lighting conditions are not ideal.
