The first bird that I saw on the first morning that I was there was this Grey Heron in breeding plumage. Although it seemed far I took some pictures and move closer when I thought it was worth taking a chance to get closer. I was able to take some at about 10 meters closer before it flew away. Thunderbird Resorts Poro Point is about 278 kilometers from my place. It has two wings of 18 rooms, with 6 rooms on each of the 3 floors. It has a casino nearby and is a beautiful hotel. I got to see the filming of "Unang Hirit" early in the morning but did not watch it as the sun was about to come out and I did not want to miss the early birds. Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, EF 800mm f5.6 IS L Lens, Manfrotto 475B Tripod, MF 373 Gimbal Head ISO 400, 1/640, f8 Measured distance 58.5 meters ISO 400, 1/800, f8 Measured distance 58.5 meters ISO 400, 1/800, f8 Measured distance 58.5 meters ISO 400, 1/800, f8 Measured distance 58.5 meters ISO 400, 1/1000, f8 Measured distance 58.5 meters ISO 400, 1/1000, f8 Measured distance 48.5 meters ISO 400, 1/1600, f8 Measured distance 48.5 meters

Interesting study of eye contact. The photos altogether illustrate how eye contact dramatically improves bird photography. I am yet to decide which one is the best of this series. Very good composition, certainly. Cheers!

wow! great series of captures of the Grey heron, Ely! I think I like the second one the best! Thank you Bob for your reply. Its really hard to choose because they are of the same bird. I am happy to have seen them in their breeding plumage. It is so different as the feathers are longer and they are more colorful.

Nice series here Ely. Good detail despite the distance. Pale blue sky provides a nice contrast to the bird.

The tree is Camachile and the people tell me that those trees are over a hundred years old. There are not much trees in the resort but a lot of them are Camachile. They have plans of planting more trees to attract more birds.

Lovely colors and great detail, Ely! Nice to hear that's there is a Grey heron ranging in that area. I used to play golf in my salad days nearby, at the former Wallace golf course (sand greens).

Thank you Romy for your appreciation. Wow sand greens just like Baguio Country Club before. Sand greens are non existent now. Thunderbird has a beautiful 9 hole golf course. I still play regularly here but while I was there I did not even have the urge to play as Birding is still more exciting for me. How time changes everything. I used to go out of town just to play golf, now I go out of town to look for birds. I think you call this kind of people "Birdnuts". Heh heh heh.

What a beautiful series of shots of the Grey Heron amidst the red, ripened camachile fruits Ely. I like the pose, composition, subtle colors, and all the "mis-en-scene" (elements of the scene). Your pictures are a work of art!

Your pictures are a work of art! Thank you JV. I have to admit that I am not artistically inclined. Your appreciation is certainly appreciated coming from an artist like you. I did like the fruiting Camchile and wanted to try some but it was too high for me to reach. Heh heh heh.

beautiful posts and lighting on your set Ely Thank you JP. Your previous concerns on my older pictures certainly made me aware of my mistakes. For that I like to tell you that I am grateful.
