Below are just two of the many species of doves in Costa Rica. All pics were taken last weekend from our backyard Inca Dove: A dove that looks very similar to our own zebra dove. 400mm, f/5.6, 1/500s, ISO200 400mm, f/5.6, 1/500s, ISO200 White-winged Dove: The White-winged Dove (Zenaida asiatica) is a dove whose native range extends from the south-western USA through Mexico and the Caribbean. They are brownish-gray above and gray below, with a bold white wing patch that appears as a brilliant white crescent in flight and is also visible at rest. Adults have a patch of blue, featherless skin around each eye and a long, dark mark on the lower face. Their eyes, legs, and feet are red. It is so nice to see you sharing your pictures. Keep them coming. This will forever be memories that you will forever treasure. I like the White-winged Dove best because of the blue eye shadow that it naturally has. It reminds me of women who puts on a blue eye shadow to make them beautiful just like this dove. Well done Ariel. Mabuhay.

Very nice Ariel.. They look like the same species i was able to photograph in Argentina. I will dig up my files and upload some shots for comparison. I remember them.. the Inca doves.. they're all over the place, even in the city during the height of winter down below in Buenas Aires. A flock of 30-50 doves roosted each night on trees just outside my apartment. I went to the rooftop area each morning to try and photograph them while having my morning coffee.. such amiable characters..
