In the woodpecker thread I posted earlier I mentioned background and bokeh effects. birdphotoph.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=photo&action=display&thread=5355I wanted to share the different looks I was able to get using the same bird on the same branch. I used small changes in my positioning to get different kinds of framing, BG and bokeh. I stuck to the same settings, shooting wide open to get the creamy look. I thought it might be of interest how subtle changes in one's position can make a totally different picture. Canon 5Dmk2, 500mm, 1.4x tc, tripod, 1/320, f5.6, ISO 400 ( same on all shots) PHILIPPINE PYGMY WOODPECKERDendrocopos maculatus

Hehe, thanks Neon and Ely. I was just playing around and experimenting. I always see this guy in the same location so I was not worried about him flying away. Now if only the other birds would just stay still long enough it would make photography so much easier.

You are right. I simple movement can make a big difference between a "nice pose" and an "ordinary pose"..Nice set you have here. Congratulations!
