Hi Renoir, You are so lucky to be seeing and photographing all of these birds For identification purposes, we have an online guide to Philippine Birds in this very forum... birdphotoph.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=birdlistIf you want to do it easier, above the word subject at the left hand side, there is a search button with a magnifying glass icon, just click on that and type out the bird you are looking for, example... coucal. It will show you all the results and from there you will be able to identify the type of coucal you are looking for Good luck.

I'd like to echo Tina about the habit of checking the online guide first before posting here. It will aid your birdwatching skills in a major way once you start attempting to i.d. birds on your own with the help of our very own Online Guide. As some species are not there, one could also browse through Oriental Bird Images orientalbirdimages.org/Another almost indispensable tool, is a field guide such as the Kennedy Guide (KG) which will hold a lot more info about the birds in the Philippines. From your photo, it is a viridis since the sinensis has a bluish gloss to its dark parts. In the KG, it also states that sinensis only ranges in the Philippines at Palawan and Sulu. Sometimes identification can be made based on the location alone. Good luck and keep on shooting! We have very few Mindanao-based photographers and your postings are always exciting. Ivan
