I'm not affiliated with Sony, but I was surprised that a laptop with such a large screen and amazing specs is now available locally, with local support and warranty, at a price that seems reasonable for a Vaio. 
When my middle-aged desktop (Q6600, 4 GB RAM on XP) retires, I think I'm gonna go laptop, supported with a second LCD (IPS), as my main digital darkroom. This will allow me to PP at home using a wide-gamut display, while I can bring the laptop to sorties and PP onsite, albeit only with the laptop display. Storage will of course remain with external HDDs. Laptops seem to have enough power now to easily crunch HD videos and multi-layered 16-bit large res TIFFs.
