In between looking for new birds I am slowly trying to improve my bird photos here in our village. A lot of them need to be updated! I have been following this particular woodpecker for some time. I finally figured out the right time and day to take pics of this bird so I could get the bg and bokeh effects I wanted. I called Paollo to join me since he had not photographed a Pygmy woodpecker yet. I always see the Pygmy from the backside view and its not a very nice view. Your picture showed it on the frontside view and its the best side of the bird. Your studying the bird's habit and positioning yourself with the light at your back is the work of a professional. The result is beautiful. Your picture is picture perfect. Well done Tonji. Mabuhay.

Clem- I took these in an area with low trees. In that place the best time is between 4:40 and 5:30. Any later and the sun gets affected by the walls and houses near the trees. Wow, thanks for the nice comments guys. I had lots of time to wait for the right shot as this bird was just in the same two trees all the time. Bird photography is so much easier when we get a lot of time to compose and setup. The bird even had sex during the photoshoot. Based on my EXIF it only took 1.5 seconds. Then it was back to posing for us. What a trooper.
