Wow, this is a really nice shot! I couldn't find Cuculus pectoralis in the Kennedy guide .. is it there? I think is this is the bird that we were trying to photograph in Makiling, but it kept eluding us. Great that you got such good views of it, and even video!

Well lit bird JV. I find it a challenge to shoot underneath trees as they often do not allow for good light.
It would be interesting to see how it breeds by APril.

I will surely continue to track this bird until and after it breeds, and hopefully post my notes and photos about it for everyone to see and appreciate. I have been trying as much as possible not to use flash illumination in all my bird photos (unless necessary), and truly, the purity of shooting in ambient light makes the craft even more challenging, and fulfilling. Thanks Pao!

Thanks Martin, i guess this particular shot was about a 10-12 meter distance to subject. The final photo has been slightly cropped. Tonji and Sylvia made a trip all the way to my location from Alabang to photograph the bird last sunday morning, and it was a successful session. They were able to take really close shots of the bird both in full frame and cropped mode. Can't wait to see what they upload soon...
