Bee-eaters are my favorite birds when it comes to Philippine birds because of their beautiful colors. Watching them with their acrobatic moves makes one forget about time - I can stay in one place THE WHOLE DAY just watching and taking pictures of these beauties ;D 40D ; 300mm f/4L IS + 2x TC ; 1/160sec ; ISO 400 ; f/7.1 ; MF Blue-throated Bee-eater30D ; 400mm f/5.6L ; 1/800sec ; ISO 1000 ; f/9.0 ; AF For the complete gallery of bee-eater photos, please check out my smugmug gallery. Thank you JP and Martin Martin, that 1st photo was less than 8 ft away from me. Like I said, the bee-eaters are in almost full force at their regular nesting grounds. If you don't make sudden movements and stay in one place, you will be able to take many FANTASTIC photos of them because they eventually get used to your presence and don't mind you anymore. If I am not mistaken, this time of the year is the nearest you will ever get to be with a bee-eater. Note: This area is a regularly patrolled area. You see the security people quite often. They even stop to check you out sometimes.

HehEHehEHehEHe TJ. Uhmmmm so many trees are fruiting in Subic - an afternoon in Subic is not enough !!!! HEehEHehEHeEHe
I was even able to convince Wency to try out photography and he got excellent shots of the hornbills that was about 10-15 ft away from him.
I haven't started processing my "other" subic bird photos since I wanted to process "some" bee-eater photos first.

Tina, (I hope that is the right name!)
I am in love with your bee-eaters!!! I saw my first bee-eaters this year, on Fraser Island in Australia. I can't even begin to describe my excitement! Talk about flying jewels!!
There was a flock of them perched near a lake and taking dives into it. They only stayed for about 10 minutes each day in the late afternoon, and they were shy of me. So I had to kind of creep up to them through the bushes and dirt very, very, slowly. Lucky I am no princess, I had twigs and stuff all through my hair after that! I had more fun getting dirty and messed up than any time I dressed up well, hehe:)
I hope to see Bee-eaters like yours some day!!
