For over an hour, I observed this sub-adult bird hunting among the rocks near the edge of the water at Coastal Lagoon. It didn't manage to fully dry its feathers, I suspect it got soaked in some oil-based substance in the water. The good thing is it can still fly to hunt. I hope the feathers will be dry enough in a few weeks for the long migration flight home. Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) Shooting info - Coastal Lagoon, Manila Bay, March 9, 2010, 7D + 400 2.8 IS + Canon 2x TC, 800 mm, f/6.3, ISO 400, 1/250 sec, manual exposure in available light, bean bag, near full frame resized to 1500x1000, 11.2 m shooting distance

Awesome details and excellent (full) framing Mastah Romy, prey in the beak is a big plus to me.

Well, for whatever it's worth, at least it's been immortalized by the Ka Mastah himself, hehehe. The 7D is really shining in the hands of Ka Mastah! :-)

Our avian friends are very resilient but still... my heart goes out to this one. Also wishing it can get home safe and healthy.
