Sunbirds are one of my favorites as they are very colorful and beautiful. I had a burst of 3 shots on this one and although they are very similar, I made used of two pictures. Lovely Sunbird (Aethopyga shelleyi). Endemic to the Philippines. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, EF 800mm f5.6 IS L Lens, Manfrotto 475B Tripod, MF 373 Gimbal Head. Both pictures were taken with ISO 400, 1/50, f5.6

A very colorful endemic sunbird nicely captured, Ely. Amazing how you were able to freeze it with 1/50 sec!

Wow!! must be a difficult shot to make Ely!! You got awesome shots!!, considering you used 1600 ISO and 1/50 sec., wide open , I can just imagine how dark the conditions were.

To Romy, Edu, and Neon who have seen this thread where I posted the Lovely Sunbirds being taken with ISO 1600. I apologize for this inadvertent error. It was my mistake as the pictures were taken at ISO 400 and not 1600. I processed these pictures together with that of the Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher that had ISO of 1600 and mistook them to be the same as that of the Sunbird. The shutter speed of 1/50 and aperture of f5.6 is correct.

Amazing details on this great endemic catch Ely. Love the colors and the strong eye contact. Thank you Rey. I have always love Sunbirds. Their color and behavior is so alluring. What I don't like about them is that they move too much. Heh heh heh.

WOW!!!! Those sunbirds are sooo darn malikot and you managed these great shots at those conditions! Keep 'em coming Ely! Thank you Ixi. This is the reason why I like the 1D so much because the auto focus is fast and can shoot 10 frames per second. I don't think I could have done the same with my previous camera.
