This bird reminds me of the fairy tale story of Hans Christian Anderson in "The Ugly Duckling". The Swan, a white beautiful and graceful bird when it swims in the water had a small black offspring that look so different from the mother. But when it grew up the feathers change and he became a beautiful Swan. The Black Crown Night Heron is similar in nature. When immature they are brown & white and they don't look as good as the parents. When they reach adulthood this is when the transformation begins and they turn into a beautiful bird. Villa Lorenzo may look like a swamp but it has a rich treasure of a colony of BCNH. They are all busy now building their nest. The male would go back and forth to gets branches from a nearby tree and bring the nesting material to his mate who would build the nest. This would go on for hours and several days. It is good that no one harms the birds in the area. I would like to share these pictures with you with thanks to Edu the discoverer of Villa Lorenzo. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, EF 800mm f5.6 IS L Lens, Manfrotto 475B Tripod, MF 373 Gimbal Head Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) Immature ISO 800, 1/250, f5.6 All the succeeding picture are that of a matured Black-crowned Night Heron. The transformation is truly remarkable. ISO 800, 1/320, f8 ISO 800, 1/400, f8 ISO 800, 1/400, f8 ISO 800, 1/500, f8 ISO 800, 1/3200, f7.1 While taking BIF, I turned the knob the wrong way thinking I have lowered the speed but it was the other way around. I like the pose of this bird. ISO 400, 1/160, f8

Now this is what I have been waiting for from the 1Dmk4! Amazing sharpness. Great exposure. Thank you Tonji. This is what I have been telling you to wait for. That is why it surprised me when I heard that you bought 3 new cameras and not one of them was a 1D M4. Not too late, you can still do it if you are convinced with it.
