There are two Olive backed Sunbirds in our garden nowadays. I thought I would try to get a photograph so I could update my OBS pictures taken in Alabang. I opened my window facing a nice flowering tree and sat on a chair till these guys showed up. Lots of other birds showed up in our garden today, a Black naped Oriole, a White Collared Kingfisher, Pied Triller, Yellow vented Bulbuls, ETS, Pied Fantails and these guys... Thanks Rey glad you liked it. The brown marks near the base of the flower is where he makes his puncture marks. Thanks Mark, I guess common birds are my theme of the week.

oh, the foreground really draws the eye to the OBS and the flowers seem to be captured at a good depth of field. Wow shots!

These are truly wonderful shots. It is even nicer that it was taken from your own backyard. Cost-free birding

That's a nice little paradise you have there. I would not consider the OBS a common bird. You can count on it as a blessing that you have a variety of birds in your garden. My garden seems to be exclusively for ETS. Heh heh heh.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. I was lucky this bird like those flowers. Its always going there and drinking from them. There are many species of birds in Alabang 50+. Its kind of strange for a subdivision in the city. We actually need to improve a lot of our Alabang bird photos. I should spend more effort to improve the pictures of the birds we see most often instead of always chasing new birds. Hehe.

Speaking of 50+ species I took your suggestion on inventorying the birds I've taken in the village and I have come up with 24 examples. Half of which needs a re-do. The rest of the birds would make up 5% of all birds expected to be found in the Philippines.

nice rendition of the obs TOnji. Thats what seperates the men from the boys for me, making everyday birds look extra ordinary. galing!
