These photos are from our trip to Busuanga, Palawan last November 2009. Posting them just now after I asked Des Allen of WBCP to look at my pics from November and he confirmed that this is a Palawan Blue Flycatcher. Yey, lifer for me via email! The Palawan Blue Flycatcher is an endemic and also listed as "uncommon". I was lying down on a cement block, taking a breather by the side of the road when I heard a melodious call that was too pretty to ignore! I got great views of it, but it kept flying from branch to branch before I could get a shot. I thought at first that this was a Mangrove Blue Flycatcher. Turns out that the Mangrove Blue Flycatcher is not listed in the Kennedy Guide for Busuanga/Coron and that the immature one that we saw in Busuanga last August 2009 was a "noteworthy record" for the area. Ely -- you already have a picture of this bird from last June! It was Bird Photo of the Week even. Thank you Sylvia for the reminder. This is the reason why I wanted to photograph birds that I have seen when I joined the WBCP so that I will remember them. It did not work out that way. Neon also forgot. Heh heh heh. Your photos has an angle of showing the front view of the bird which has a lot of yellow feathers making it look much prettier and that led me to think that it was a different kind of bird.
