It looks similar to an owl. Fantastic shot. You must have positioned yourself no more than 10 meters. Well done.Edwin. Mabuhay.

Wakened eyes that are still in dreamland, well set whiskers and beautiful layers of perfectly cut feathers + the kiss of the morning sun... Ole! The best capture of the nightjar for me in this forum, with the great morning mood. I miss Singapore! Thanks for sharing, Ed. telyds

Ed you found the bird I have been looking for for the past few weeks. Great catch! @ Pao, Thanks, This was taken during my first Birding sorties NPSS ( Nature Photography Society -Singapore). And most of the Senior members knows the area. This is one of the local outing i attended as a member.

@ Telyds, Thank you, this was my first group Birding outing here in Singapore with local Singaporean, quiet an experience to see more than 10 Birdnuts... Any plan to visit Singapore.. send me a message, i usually go out on weekends for Bird watching and photog.... Chris, Thank you, yup, this nightjar just stayed on that spot, did alot of shots, but it just ignored all of us (i was with other birdnuts). Edwin Wow, surreal. Nice work Edwin! Do they tend to flee or are they one of the more relaxed species?
