Went to Candaba straight from Banaue to pacify my disappointment with the lousy weather in Banaue. A good thing too otherwise I would have gone home with a lot of pictures of the terraces only ;D Got 2 horribly taken photo lifers in Banaue though - a chestnut faced babbler and a blue headed fantail (both of them not worth posting). Eastern Marsh HarrierNorthern Shoveler pairA furious Intermediate Egretrest of the photos are here

Love the detail in these "consolation" shots, Tina!
If only to ease your feeling, I once went up to Baguio and came back without getting my gear out of their bags. Not a single shot was taken.
The weather was sunny when I left Manila and turned stormy when I got to Baguio en route to Mt. Data. I turned back and drowned my sorrow by eating a ton of premium kinilaw na kambing at Pozzorubio, Pangasinan. ;D

Thanks a lot Manny. Going to Subic/Anvaya/Sta.Cruz this weekend - finally !!!!! HEhEHEHhEHEHEhe The Subic bee-eaters (at the roadside nesting site) are breeding March-April, and they should be easy to get close to when you shoot from the car.

I'm looking forward to the Bee-Eaters - spending half a day with them is pure bliss for me since they are after all my favorite birds

Hmmm. That's why. I've been waiting for you to post two dozen lifers from your mountain journey and was wondering why haven't seen any. Ahh, well...such is bird photography.
Still, that harrier's looking fierce. Nice shot.
Wish your luck changes in Subic.

Thanks Ding and Bob. I had one of the best birding weekends in Subic. On the first area that we went to - tanan !!!! Hornbills galore feeding on the fruiting camachele tree, while I was taking their picture, tanan !!!! a greater flameback comes along HeheHehHEHehHEhehEHe the problem is ... TANAN !!!!! still don't know if I have good shots. A LOT ... as in A LOT of trees are fruiting in Subic. The bee-eaters are in full force. The colasisis seem to be everywhere too - Haaaaaaay such is birding Pure bliss when you get to see and capture a lot of birds. A lot of fruits will be ripe next weekend <-- that's a hint guys
