Although we didn't get to shoot during the best time in the early morning because of the rains I was still fortunate enough to get a lifer. The only Sunbird categorized as uncommon. Maybe because it's very tiny, very skittish and loves to stay in the dark areas of the trees. Thanks a lot to Telyds for bringing us to Cangolf and even treated us to a very nice lunch. Flaming Sunbird (Aethopyga flagrans) Endemic, Uncommon, Canlubang, Laguna, 01-26-09 50D + EF500, f6.3, 1/60, ISO 400, Manual Exposure, Handheld

Wow!! Great find Rey!! Awesome capture of the rare endemic.
So this was the sunbird you were shooting when I was going towards you, I just missed it. I saw how close you were on this one!!

No wonder you could not resist going down the ravine and I thought a fairy has already turned you into stone. You were there for 2 1/2 solid hours. Maybe you could move or post this again in Birding Places, the thread that Neon started for CanGolf. Please post more! The birds that you took are the birds of my birthplace. telyds (PS. I offered to treat you guys lunch because of the huge discount- and my golf cart was free. It was the Marshall's cart. )
