Went to Subic last weekend with Val and was fortunate enough to get another endemic lifer. The Eagle Owl is quite a large owl, the biggest owl in the Philippines. I saw it when it flew and perch on a nearby branch, the wingspan is really impressive. Didn't expect to see an Eagle Owl in Subic because their numbers are rapidly decreasing and sigthings are reported mostly from the Sirra Madre Mountains where Neon saw it too last year. Philippine Eagle Owl (Bubo philippensis), Endemic, Vulnerable, 01-23-10 50D + EF500, f5.6, 1/50, ISO 400, Manual Exposure, Handheld

Thanks a lot folks. ___________________________________ Wow!! Congrats Rey!! Even with it's big size this Owl is really hard to find. I was surprised when it suddenly flew becuase I was trying to find another bird that was calling and didn't see this owl that must be a few meters away from me. Anyway, it perched on a nearby branch and just stayed there until we took Gigs and Gigs of photos. Good thing it turned its head 180 degrees because the bird turned its back to us.

Thanks a lot Tonji and Edu. It's really a beautiful owl, hope I'll be able to see it again. I might just come back to Subic next weekend. These birds have their favorite perches, maybe I'll be fortunate to see it again in the same place.
