My system disk crashed in the middle of processing my recent Cordillera captures. I think it's a mechanical problem as I can't seem to reformat it and re-install my OS. I'm still troubleshooting it, but it's good that all my data are in other disks, with backup to boot. Worst case is I've to put in a new system disk. Here's a couple of small birds from the highlands, the last photos processed with my late system disk . Please bear with Pbase, it's a bit slow today. Citrine Canary-Flycatcher ( Culicicapa helianthea septentrionalis, endemic race) Habitat - Understory usually in montane forest. Shooting Info - Elev. 1615m ASL, Mankayan, Benguet, January 21, 2010, 7D + 500 f4 IS + Canon 1.4x TC, 700 mm, f/5.6, ISO 400, 1/160 sec, 475B/3421 support, manual exposure in available light, near full frame Elegant Tit ( Parus elegans, a Philippine endemic) Habitat - Common from lowland to montane mossy forest. Shooting Info - Elev. 2195 m ASL, Mt. Data, Mountain Province, January 21, 2010, 7D + 500 f4 IS + Canon 1.4x TC, 700 mm, f/5.6, ISO 400, 1/160 sec, 475B/3421 support, manual exposure in available light, near full frame, 10.1 meters shooting distance

Thanks, Godo, JP and Neon! Just to update my HDD issue, I was able to resuscitate the old disk but I just decided to replace it with a new one (WD, 320 GB, 7200 rpm, PHP 2.2K) for better reliability. The old one gets demoted to an external data disk.

The 10 meters distance is the best shooting distance for any kind of lens. Aside from your photographic skill, you have acquired the knack of getting close to the bird. I like both pictures, they are beautiful just like the way I would like to be able to take them. Well done Romy. Mabuhay.

Fantastic shots! The first is my favorite since I was not able to see this bird when we went there. This pic makes me want to see it even more!
