I have opened this thread because I have been so amused with the different color palette of this beautiful, interesting bird displayed in the forum. It may be because of the light or lack of it, camera settings or its different stages. I kindly request all those who have taken photos of this bird to please post/repost on this thread. Include the date and place (no details), please. May I ask Neon to start the thread rolling. If I am not mistaken. his shot was the first good shot of this bird and it is still displayed in the old yahoo forum. If you have observed an interesting behavior of this bird, please share also. Yes, male and female. Looking forward to your post, telyds.

Ok Te Lyds, here are some photos of the male BRT taken at different locations and year. Dec.1, 2007 - NIGS-SC-MSI area. I seems that this area is a favorite of the species as it has been seen there every year during migration season. This Photo was included in the 1st exhibit at Vargas Museum. Another photo of the same bird was included in Volume 1 of the DOT book, Birdwatching in the PHilippines, page 191 Here's one from >1000m up along the Halsema highway at Atok, Benguet. Nov. 22, 2008 This is the recent version on this bird during this current migration, it is still found at the same grounds at UPD. From the more recent photos, from other PBPF members, of the same individual, it has shed off most of the blue feathers that mottled its dark reddish brown belly in this photo Oct. 26, 2009

My share, First time I saw the Rockstar was October 11, 2009 and Des Allen gave the ID. saying that this particular bird is a first-time migrant in the Phil as it is about a year old. Then November 14, 2009 I saw it again.. a bit more plump. And this taken January 24, 2009 All same location. In the parking lot where you can find an old anchor and the lamppost at the same time

The Blue Rock-Thrush (Monticola solitarius) looks different in every picture. The only explanation I can think of is that they were moulting when the pictures were taken. This picture was taken in Palay Palay last November.
