Hi renoir! I have no idea. My spacial skills are dead and I don't know where to find it in the exif (too lazy too) but I use a 400mm and you can probably estimate the distance with the size of the bird in the Full-frame photo

Edu great work. A word of warning... secure the ballhead before letting go of the camera. Unlike gimbals ballheads do not equalize once you let go of the camera.

Hi Pao,
That is the only thing I am worried about when thinking between a gimbal and a ball-head. I find it hard to level(twist) the camera when using a gimbal head quickly when setting the tripod on an uneven surface. Thanks for the warning.

Nice shot, amazing detail even with cropping! Hehe..... a 475 is an overkill for a 400 mm lens, Edu. In fact, Neon IIRC is using a much lighter tripod for his 600 f4 IS (though I don't recommend anyone following Neon's example, it's better to have overcapacity than the other way around).

Wow!! Rock solid shot, Edu!! Hehe...same thing I was saying to Edu when he got ahead of me to acquire JP's tripod. Actually I was even telling him that we can swap tripods once he gets it. ;D Agree with you Ka Mastah that my support is very underrated for my gear. I would have gotten much more shake free shots with a sturdier tripod than what I'm currently using and it will be a lot safer (there's a lesser chance of equipment failure) as well. I stuck with this lighter tripod as I compromised with weight rather than stability due to my birding style which involves a lot of walking. ;D

Wow a 475 for a 400mm lens. I am guessing you are on the upgrade path to bigger glass.
The 475 is super sturdy and can easily take a 600mm and 800mm. Enjoy your new tripod.

a 475 is an overkill for a 400 mm lens, Edu. Are you suggesting I get a longer lens? ;D (though I don't recommend anyone following Neon's example, This is the second time I have heard/read these words.. the first time, it came from Neon himself ;D The first time I saw the tripod I had to gulp, the sheer size and weight is intimidating. But as the rule of thumb for tripods go.. "OA, is OK"

Congrats on your new oversized support, Edu. That's sure to be rock stable. Thanks gabs! But the thing is HUGE and lugging it around is like carrying a full grown dog Huge and heavy? Wait till you get the 393. ;D
