Hi renoir,
If the choice is just between the two, I would choose wireless. This totally eliminates your connection to the camera hence less chance of vibration coming from you. The downside tho, if you will use IR type remote and the receiver is at the front of the camera.

Hi Renoir, we used to have Nikon cameras and with our last one a D90 we used a small Nikon wireless remote. It did not trigger the shutter consistently. And I think as you keep pressing and moving it around you might frighten the bird even more, hehe. We presently use Canon cameras and use the remote with the wire. It works very well, half click will do the auto focus and a full click will trigger the shutter. Very useful. A must have gadget.
