I joined sir Bert in Cavite last Christmas break for an overnight birding in the forest. We saw a lot of birds but it was very difficult to get photos. On our way back, we stopped by the house of his friend to check a nearby river. It was only then that we realized we could have gotten a better harvest if we stayed there on the first day. Here's one of my captures from the trip. Thanks for viewing. Black-naped Monarch ( Hypothymis azurea), male Mt. Palay-Palay, Ternate, Cavite, 30 Dec 2009 40D + 400 f/5.6 L, ISO 400, f/8, 1/80 sec, manual exposure, tripod/gimbal support, 6.5 meters from subject PS: Please let me know how the colors turned out.

The colors looks good. I wish I were as close as you were when you took the picture at 6.5 meters. My MFD is 6 meters. Would that not be fantastic. Very good picture in both aspect, colors and sharpness. Well done Mark. Mabuhay.

Thank you, Ely and Alain! We saw the a pair but didn't get a photo of the female. They were diving into a pool of water catching floating insects (we suppose). After they had noticed us, each time they dive they would stop in mid-air, check for our presence, and seeing that we are still there, head back to their hidden perch before reaching the water. I guess we somehow disturbed their feeding.
