I recently purchased a used nikkor tc17eII and took it for a road test at Candaba. What i like about this tc is that it still AF's with my 500mm. I lose some stops but i make it up with the high iso capability of the D3. Here are some images from the sortie... looks useable to my eyes Nikon D3 + Nikkor 500mm F4 VR + TC17eII, 1/100s, f6.7, ISO1000, 850mm, bean bag Nikon D3 + Nikkor 500mm F4 VR + TC17eII, 1/250s, f7.1, ISO400, 850mm, bean bag

Does 1.7 mean it is in between the 1.4 and 2 TC of Canon? If so that makes it very interesting because you still have auto focus. Those are great pictures. Well done JP. Mabuhay.

JP, it's still sharp! Though a little bit pale on my monitor, but that may be because I haven't calibrated mine. There's also that tint of aqua bluish shade on the pictures but that may be the sky. Hope I'm wrong.

Echo on the sharpness... I actually envy the 1.7x that only Nikon has, especially when it is shown that it does not degrade the image as much as a 2x. Great shots JP!

Yep, still sharp on my monitor, though the colors are a bit muted, perhaps due to the hi-ISO, or my monitor :-)

Very nice TC, agree it's very usable as sharpness and overall IQ is not degraded that much. Boosting the colors a bit in PS won't be that hard to do.
