Santa left me a little coucal last night. Didn't have any chimney nor any hanging socks so he perched my Christmas bird on the tree outside my fence. Merry Christmas! Canon 40D + Canon 400mm 5.6L + Kenko 1.4X TC Manfrotto monopod + Benro gimbal head f/8, 1/400s, ISO320 manual exposure, manual focus

Even without any shooting details it looks like you had a low ISO, medium speed, and small opening to get such a beautiful picture. Well done Ding. Mabuhay.

Great light on this bird. Usually I see this bird under a tree or inside a bush. This bird is showing all the colors of its feathers. Nice.

Thanks, guys.
Sorry for neglecting the shooting details. I have now inserted them into the original post.
Actually cheated in PP. The bird was so near and active that i had trouble keeping it within the frame. My best shot had a small part of its tail out of the frame. Fortunately, I shot in a burst and the 3rd shot before it had the tail (but the eyes were blurred). So, with a little Photoshop magic (layers and masking)...
While shooting the bird, I also learned the value of a fast memory card:
Saw the bird as I was having breakfast so I rushed to the basement to get my gear only to realize I left all my Sandisk CFs in my attic workroom the day before. Too lazy to climb 3 flights, I grabbed one of those 2gb freebie CF cards of unknown brand lying around in the basement and used it. Missed too many shots with it. I initially fired a burst of 14 shots, then had to wait several eternities just to be able to shoot again.
