A number of my peers in the office have switched to the MacBook and I felt like the only dinosaur sticking to my aging IBM laptop so asked our IT Dept to switch me over.
Now doing this message on a 15-inch Macbook Pro.
The screen resolution and clarity and overall "coolness" is awesome. I feel I'm now amongst the Hep Cats.
But I'm struggling.
I'm pretty good at keyboard shortcuts on the PC but fumbling with the Mac. Don't know how to move a word at a time, go page down, highlight/select the entire page, or generally, just to navigate the cursor across the screen. And where's the blasted Backspace key? Also got to get used to that Finder. And where are the tabs on this Explorer...uh Safari?
Any recommendations from Mac users out there?
Birth pains. Ahhh...the price of coolness.
Gotta go around now wearing black and a beret and saying "Cool" and "Sweet".

Hi Ding, In our house everyone has migrated to Mac with my son the only holdout. I am no expert but the helpful shortcuts for me are "apple key" and "T" to add tabs to your internet browser. Works with Safari and Firefox. If you want to click on a page but want it to open in another tab press "apple key" and click on the page location with your mouse. other useful shortcuts: apple key and "c" shortcut for copy apple key and "v: shortcut for paste the rest of the shortcuts can be found here. support.apple.com/kb/HT1343Enjoy your new toy.

Wow, Ding... that is a good purchase. I miss my MAC. I lost it to a repair shop in Funan, Singapore and I feel terrible. I had the keyboard replaced and when it was returned to me, my Mac was sleeping and never awakened. It's like when a dear dog is run over by a car. I love everything about Mac except that the parts/programs are soooooo expensive. My son, who used to work for a MAC distriibutor, said that it is worth getting the extended warranty (P10,000) which you can avail of before the present warranty expires. I learned my lesson. I wanted to save and had the shop beside the Mac service in Singapore do it. Free installation, original part, no service cost - the risk, I did not see. I am still grieving and bawled out loud when I read that you got a 15". I bought a Lenovo mini notebook in the meantime and will buy a bigger one next week... can't afford a MAC now. I got to finish my book. If you have problems with your MAC, you can visit www.philmug.ph, the forum for Mac users. You know, I never used a mouse with Mac? Love it. love it... but it's gone. BTW, how much is it now? Ahhh, never mind. telyds grieving while you are groovin'

BTW, how much is it now? Ahhh, never mind. Have now idea, teLyd. Got the mac the best way anyone can: company provided. It really is a joy to use, despite birth pains. Now, the acid test. Just downloaded the trial version of Aperture2. Will it be better than my beloved Photoshop? Abangan and susunod na kabanata ( wait for the next episode).
