Hi, what is "karma" in this board and why do some people have "2 karma" or "1 karma"? Do I want that??

"Karma" is a way of "awarding" a forum member for a post that another member deems to be of exceptional value. If the member feels that a certain post - either a topic of sorts, or a photo - is worthy of a "reward" that member will just click on "Exalt" link on the poster's handle and a positive karma point is added to the poster.
On the other hand "Smite" is used by somebody who feels totally insulted by a post or a response and this results in a negative "karma" value. This has happened to me once when someone was so hurt by a response I made that the person felt it justified to "smite" me. :-)
This is all, of course, a matter of personal responsibility. A positive karma is always welcome, but a negative karma, when taken seriously, can create a rift among members. So the rule is to be "stingy" in rewarding either a plus or minus karma. Use those buttons only in "excetional" circumstances. :-)
