This bird is described in Kennedy as an "uncomon skulker". Tonji and I saw the male and the female for the first time in Candaba this morning. We saw the male first but we were disturbed by a passing cyclist. Then, we continued to look for it for 1 1/2 hours more. We found it again and were able to take better pictures. Then, Tonji was still unhappy with his pictures, so we continued looking and saw the female an hour later. And, by a really strange coincidence, we had just been discussing this bird with JP the night before! That was a magnificent capture Tonji and Sylvia. Hehe, you guys should hear the story when Mastah Romy was trying to get this bird in hardin about three years ago. You will have a new level of appreciation for your beautiful capture.

Thank you guys! Tonji and I feel so lucky and amazed that we saw that bird and were able to take pictures of it. Our first round of pictures were blurred because it was a bit far and kept walking away from us. The second time we saw the male, we were able to get closer to it and it even walked towards us. The red throat of the bird was so distinctive that we were sure of the id even if we hadn't seen a picture of a Siberian Rubythroat and we didn't have our Kennedy guide with us! Telyds -- that's SO funny! Rey -- I'd like to hear that story about the Master Romy's Siberian Rubythroat!
