FINALLY!!!!! I really thought 2009 will pass without me getting a decent shot of an Olive-backed Sunbird. Specially with all the family activities, I think today is my last birding sortie for this year. But with the help of gabsbuluran and info from our resident UPD birders, I went today to UPD and got me this! Camera: Nikon D90 Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200) Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 400 mm ISO Speed: 800 Handheld (still no funds for a tripod ) I have it from good authority that this is an immature male OBS. I am now looking for a plastic surgeon to surgically remove this ear-to-ear grin on my face ;D I really loved watching these little guys go about singing and sipping either water or nectar from the flowers.

Beautiful series Edu, exposed accurately in a nice pose and a nice perch. What more can you ask? I can understand the ear to ear grin. ;D

Thanks toto! If this set is my last for this year, I am happy Yes Miss Sylvia, I saw a lot of Bushchats in Candaba and Paralaya when we went there but I was sitting at a backlit position so... gotta go back! I love the last one the most also, kinda saved it for last. Thank you so much for the compliments and encouragement. Telyds, I have your CP number mam. Am now wanting to have a complete set of an adult male, female and a juvie/immature OBS Thank you for the compliment sir Ed! Gabs, when we bird again, I will be earlier than you, with a burger already so you can't beat me to the punch again Sir Neon.. I will send you an SMS this week Thank you for the compliment.

Beautiful series, Edu. Some of the most detailed shots of the OBS I've seen. Now here's a challenge: Go back out there and hunt for an adult male! It's always rocks when you catch that metallic throat shining in the sun.
