These are surprises from Nikon, especially these late. And they'll be available very soon, January 2010. A lot of people were surprised too, as they're expecting older models to get replacements first. The VR I model is relatively new compared to other lenses. But there are major sporting events coming next year, the winter Olympics and the World Cup. They need to get these out to photographers real soon. Also, the recently released 70-200 VR II are getting great reviews too from the PROS. It's now sharp at the edges, and VR is improved. The amateurs at DPR complain about the EFL at MFD though, which to most are a non-issue. The new TC 2.0 E III, is really a great news. We'll see how it performs. Nikon claims it's the first TC to use an aspherical lens element. I hope it delivers, and wish it'll be useable with F/4 lenses (with good light of course) too. Together with the 300/2.8, the TC 2x will be a great handholdable 600mm! D3X, D3S, D300s, and these new lenses ... If only they make these affordable. I really hate Nikon's pricing. I can only dream.

During the party, the call to shift was really strong. With these, I'm holding on to my Nikons!
Errr... except for the price!

Am looking at the TC. This should provide AF for my 80-400.
