This is a "pahabol" (translation: postscript) post to all those Mt.Palay-palay posts. This might interest those who are are planning to go back to Mt. Palay-palay. Just wanted to share with you guys that the last time we were there (Nov 1), we saw 2 kinds of woodpeckers. Sooty Woodpecker, maleThis bird is also found in Subic. This was my first time to see one in Mt. Palay-palay. Also my first time to see the male. The face of the female is all black, so I was surprised to see the color on the face of this bird! f4, iso400, 1/125 Greater Flameback, maleThis one, we've seen in the same general area several times. f5.6, iso200, 1/60 Canon: 50d + 300 5.6 + 1.4 tc

The way & frequency, you & Tonji goes out birding is admirable. This is where I got the idea of birding at least once a week. At the rate you are going, I will not be surprise to see you going for the longer lenses in the near future. Well done on your Woodpeckers Sylvia. Mabuhay.
