Physignathus lesueurii up to 60cm The Australian Water Dragon is an arboreal agamid species native to Eastern Australia from Victoria north to Queensland. They have long powerful limbs and claws for swimming and climbing, and have a prominent nuchal and vertebral crest. (A nuchal crest is a central row of enlarged spikes at the base of the head. These spikes continue down the spine, getting smaller as they reach the base of the tail.) Water dragons eat a wide variety of insects (aquatic and terrestrial), molluscs, small fish and turtle hatchlings, native fruit, and they will scavenge around picnic areas and urban parks. location: Manly Dam, Sydney D300 + 600/4 @ f/5.6, 1/160sec, ISO-200, tripod, gimbal, slight crop D300 + 600/4 + TC14EII @ 850mm, f/5.6, 1/1000sec, ISO-200, tripod, gimbal, slight crop D300 + 600/4 + TC14EII @ 850mm, f/8, 1/125sec, ISO-800, tripod, gimbal, slight crop D300 + 600/4 + TC14EII @ 850mm, f/5.6, 1/640sec, ISO-800, tripod, gimbal, slight crop D300 + 600/4 @ 600mm, f/8, 1/160sec, ISO-800, beanbag, slight crop
