Just trying out some extension tubes to increase the magnification of my macro lens beyond 1:1. This tiny fly is about 6 - 7 mm long (body + head, excluding wings and legs), and I reckon I got a magnification in excess of 1.5x lifesize with 37 mm of ETs at near MFD. It's also worth noting that at these close focus distances, sensor dust is even more visible at the same Av than when using my birding lenses. 40D + 100 2.8 USM macro + stacked EF12/25 (37 mm ET), f/8, 1/50 sec, ISO 800, manual focus (via Live View) and manual exposure, on-board flash at - 2 FEC, near MFD (about 4 -5" from front element), 1.5+ magnification, tripod/geared head, 76% of full frame: Romy
