Haven't gone birding for over a week now because I'm busy with other things..... I've to shoot macros in the backyard to preserve my insanity.

Bravoooooo IDOL Romy !!!!! Is there some kind of special trick that you do to take these wonderful macro images. No matter what I do, I can't seem to take that detailed a shot with my macros - does it rely on PP a lot to make it look sooo amazingly wonderful ? I tried to practice with my 100mm and they don't turn out as detailed as that  |

Thanks, Alain, Rey and Plain Tina! Bravoooooo IDOL Romy !!!!! Is there some kind of special trick that you do to take these wonderful macro images. No matter what I do, I can't seem to take that detailed a shot with my macros - does it rely on PP a lot to make it look sooo amazingly wonderful ? I tried to practice with my 100mm and they don't turn out as detailed as that I'd say it's 80% capture, 20% PP. When hand holding, I use AI servo so the focus adjusts with my hand holding movement (DOF is very thin at macro distance). It's very similar to bird photography - choose your BG, try to shoot at an angle level to the bug, use mild flash to pop the colors (the on-board works well at -1.33 to -1.67 FEC), etc. When the bug is static, use a tripod, remote switch and MF. Post your macro shots, Tina..... I'm sure you've a lot of keepers under wraps....  |
