Went for a walk around Valley Golf with Aphine this morning, it was suppose to be an exercise stroll but then I just brought my camera along anyway, hoping for the Crested Serpent Eagle that Ding saw yesterday on his side of the mountain to show up. No CSE but was able to get this series of photos of White-throated Kingfishers Halcyon smyrnensis fighting for mate or territory? Saw a total of 5 individuals making a lot of sounds and displaying the white patch on their wings. I think the one with the bigger patch wins!! 40D + 300 mm f4 IS + 1.4x Kenko TC (420mm), f 5.6, 1/200 sec, ISO 400, Manual Exposure, Hand held 40D + 300 mm f4 IS + 1.4x Kenko TC (420mm), f 5.6, 1/500 sec, ISO 400, Manual Exposure, Hand held

Wonderful set Neon !!!!! That's one Kingfisher photo I'd like to have - one with both wings outstretched to the max It's a good thing you decided to bring your camera

Thanks Master Romy & Tina! From the looks of it, the breeding season is coming. Hopefully it will be a successful year for the birds.

Hehehe, good thing you brought along your camera. Maybe Steve can explain this behavior for all of us to learn more about this beauty! :-)

Very nice shots! The first one (bird in focus) looks very comical
