Sylvia and I went to Mt.Palay Palay to try to photograph the Blue and White Flycatcher this morning. It was the day after typhoon Santi hit us so we did not know what to expect. The roads might have trees across, or there might be some landslides. We also did not know what the birds would be doing after a major storm. But what the heck, birdnuts don't ask too many questions, just go go go. The result is the most interesting and incredible bird photography trip we have had in a really long time. Super active birds. I think we saw 28 plus species. Good looks and photographs on a lot of them. But our main mission was the Blue and White Flycatcher. Considered a rare migrant, we saw the WBCP post and decided to try to get a better photo. We looked up and down and all around. Thank goodness for 4 wheel drive. And after looking for two and a half hours just for him we found this little guy. We only saw one. Wow!! Great capture Guys!! What a catch!! But this is not the one that was shown earlier, there is no doubt in the ID of this one as it's the same as shown on the KG. Congrats and thanks Tonji & Sylvia for your perseverance and we now have a good photo for our online guide.

You are an amazing couple! What a great find! You both so well deserved it. Parang trophy. PBPF should already venture into a Nature Magazine with all the wonderful captures that shower in daily, like refreshing rain. Sometimes we get downpours that make Alain request for an increase in the daily post summary. It is difficult to catch up if you miss even a day checking the posts. And everyday, the photos are getting very Oconific.

Congratulation to Tonji & Sylvia. It is not surprising to me that they get to see a lot of birds. They are always out looking for them. It is but fitting that they were able to see and capture this rare migrant. Well done Tonji & Sylvia. Mabuhay.

Thanks guys!!
Really interesting that there are apparently several of these rare migrants in the same area. The whole time we were there, we were looking for a blue and white bird. It was only when we got back that we realized that the bird James digiscoped was brown, blue and white! I'm wondering now if there were some other individuals that we missed/overlooked.
