The possibilities for wildlife filming with 7D's 720/60p is amazing, and I look forward to using this feature in capturing slomos in HD. I'm now considering the 7D as a great HD videocam that produces wonderful video quality at USD 1.7K. That it can also shoot stills (with fast AF and frame rate, albeit noisier at the pixel level than previous EOS DSLRs) is just a bonus in my book. Here's a footage captured in 720/60p and overcranked to 720/24p in post process, rendering the footage a slomo at 40% of normal speed. Right now, only one birding DSLR in the market offers this HDV flexibility, at least until the FW for the 5D2 comes out or the 1D4 is released. HD video of a pair of Zebra Doves (Geopelia striata), filmed in habitat under sweet early morning light. Gear used - Canon EOS 7D + Sigmonster (Sigma 300-800 DG) + Canon 2x TC, 1600 mm, f/18, 1/125 sec, ISO 320 - 640, Manfrotto 475B/3421 support, captured in 720/60 and overcranked to 720/24p in post process. All clips were captured at Paranaque City, Philippines, on November 1, 2009

Looks like the video capability makes up for the apparent shortcomings.
Videos or pictures, the 7D performs so well in your hands like a violin in the hands of a master..

Thanks, Edu, Tina, Bong and Boy! That video was slowed down to 40% of normal quite easily - by "interpreting as" 24 fps the original 60 fps capture, using a 24 fps timeline. I tried slowing it down further to half of that speed (20% of normal) by using a specialized software to interpolate 12 fps back to 24 fps. Here's the result. ;D
