Nilo A., Osawa Sang, and I had gone to the SRP for birding, but it was a slow day, so we went further on to a place in Talisay City, Cebu and got lucky with this one. :-) White-breasted Waterhen (Amaurornis phoenicurus)EOS -40D; 400mm with a Canon f5.6L; 1/60 Sec. ISO 800; f/14; Spot Metering, AV Pririoty; Hand held while leaning on a post:

Neon, the bird seems to be a frequent visitor at that place called "Crocolandia" - probably because of some other birds in cages for display. Kind of like a mini-zoo place. Ironically, they don't have the White-breasted Waterhen on display! This one seems to live along the nearby river and visits the place often. Yes, you do have to stalk it to get a good shot. :-)

Is that an immature or just really well-fed? The ones I see in Hardin are much leaner than this one. That's an amazingly clear shot at that speed.

Hehehehe, thanks Master! Nilo has a great capture of this bird too! I'd like to link it, but I'd rather wait for him to do it himself. :-)

Thanks again, guys. I was leaning on a post,so that really helped a lot. As for the f/14, heck, I should have used f/8 instead and gotten a higher shutter speed! My bad - seems I somehow managed to accidentally brush the wheel that set the aperture to that opening. :-)
