I took an overnight retreat in PBPF's favorite site and had a wonderful time b & B watching with Carmela despite the rain. In most of my butterfly watching trips, I have always been distracted by the predators- often common but fun to shoot. telyds ressurected Red Keeled Flowerpecker Richard's Pipit Long Tailed Shrike For Carmela Bibasis Gomata (Hesperidae family) - Pale Awlet Skipper This butterfly is about the size of a 25 centavo coin. It is often mistaken as a moth. But the clubbed antennae is the key. Canon 40D 300mm F4L

Wow!! These are all awesome captures, Te Lyds!! Liked the DOF and bokeh on the PFP,you got the whole bird sharp considering it's not perpendicular to your field of view. The slow shutter speed on the LTS made the raindrops longer and made it more pronounced that produced a beautiful moody effect. The skipper is just awesome you got it sharp where it should be!! Was there any PP done on the photos? If not, they are doubly awesome then!!

The Red Keeled Flowerpecker reminds me of the saying "Biting more than one can chew". But it looks like he was able to get the fruit of the nut. I think its a good idea to stay there overnight considering the long travel time. I like your pictures. Well done Lyd. Mabuhay.

Thank you Ka Mastah and everyone. The RP and the LTS were taken in the rotunda of Hacienda Escudero on my way back to VE from Bangkong Kahoy. It was raining and I was inside the car, engine running. Carmela was patrolling the place, saw me and hopped in the car. She held on to the unsteady lens, he, he... my human monopod, an Escudero. I was shooting a dragonfly when I heard the RKFP's excitement, switched focus... I missed the frame with the seed on its beak. I don't know PP except a slight sharpening and cropping. Even the settings on these shots are hula-hula lang which I have not perfected following the footsteps of my idol Tina. Guys, you should try focusing on butterflies every now and then. Mela, salamat. I will do an overnight in VE again. telyds
