Wow Ivan!! At the rate you are submitting rare species photos we'll hit the 100% mark in no time probably one or two new species to come along.

I wish 100% is possible, but I really doubt it. Even if this becomes a life quest, the Negros Fruit Dove, the Sulu Bleeding Heart, the Luzon Rail etc. are bound to remain enigmas in our lifetime. Trying to get most would be really fun though ;D

With Ivan's dedication and hard work our species count was increased again to another level. With the addition of several species only seen by scientists and described only in text, now we have lifelike images of them. Bravo Ivan!! Bravo!! to all members of PBPF!! Cinnamon (Ibon) White-eye Hypocryptadius cinnamomeus Endemic 472/614Philippine Hawk Owl from Cebu ( spilonota) Note: There are 8 races found in the Philippines. With the current review of the Philippine Hawk-Owl complex there may in fact be 2 or more species represented in this group, until then it only count as one in the data base. Philippine Coucal from Mindoro ( mindorensis) Mindanao Bleeding-heart Gallicolumba criniger Endemic Endangered 473/614Philippine Leafbird Chloropsis flavipennis Endemic Vulnerable 474/614 Philippine Pygmy Woodpecker from Kitanglad (fulvifasciatus) Scarlet Minivet Pericrocotus flammeusSulphur-bellied Bulbul Ixos palawanensis Endemic 475/614Pygmy Swiftlet Collocalia troglodytes Endemic 476/614White-lored Oriole Oriolus albiloris Endemic 477/614Purple-throated Sunbird Leptocoma sperata juliae from Samar Sooty Woodpecker Mulleripicus funebris Endemic from Samar (fulginosus, with just one red malar patch) Mindanao (Black-Masked) White-eye Lophozosterops goodfellowi Endemic 478/614Whiskered Flowerpecker Dicaeum proprium Endemic Near-threatened 479/614That's a running total of 479/614 or 78% of listed bird species in the Philippines represented in the online database. This means majority of the sightings could be ID using our online Guide...Wooooohoooo!!! Thanks again Ivan!!!I hope we can finish the "New" online guide, asap, so that all the available photos of each species showing different angles and behavior could be shown. Calling all volunteer encoders!!! lets finish this project asap!! If I missed some photos for the online guide that was posted in a different thread when I was out of touch for several weeks, please bring it to my attention and post them again in this thread so that I can update the database

Just a note. I am wondering how much trouble it would be to give specific locations (even down to specific locations for the large islands which may have multiple races of the same bird) for each bird photo? It might be helpful, in particular for the Field Guide, if I were able to "race" the species inserted in that database. As we all know, the world of avian taxonomy is in a state of constant flux, and we should know just exactly what taxa (i.e., which race on location and gross morphology) we are looking at in case there are future splits and the database needs updating.

Wooohooo!! Glad to see you back in the forum Sir Steve!! Your scientific expertise were surely missed!! We are currently upgrading the online database so that each species would have its own thread to accommodate more photos, wherein all the photos with location and photographers notes of each particular species would be seen. These threads would be linked to the photo on the current guide for convenience.
