Well, it's that time of the year when the rumor mills for new cameras are abuzz. From: www.canonrumors.com/Good as Gold
"I'm Faster Than You" This is from one of my Asian sources, thanks for the info.
I don’t have EXACT specs, but I do have some features.
Canon EOS 7D - Dual DIGIC 4 - Built in Flash Master (Goodbye ST-E2) - Full HD Video - APS-C (1.6 Crop) - Non Articulating LCD
From: www.northlight-images.co.uk/cameras/Canon_7d.html26th A bit more info we just received:
Next week is the launch of a new 'semi-pro' crop camera.
xD Design aims were:
Speed of readout from sensor - FPS, potentially fastest FPS in current DSLR market. Dual DiGIC Processor and Dual Card HD Video Flip screen [sic.] Low noise, not more MP 5D2 style weather sealing (no 1 series type yet) Pro level AF - a preview of the new AF technology in next year's 1D Mk4 Significantly improved liveview AF Market segment
Targeted at sports, bird and wildlife photographers Intended to be both taken seriously by sports and wildlife photographers and as 'Aspirational model' for semi-pros Look for a series of sports and wildlife photographers / testers who have tried it. Expect numerous testimonials for the camera. Providing a 'step up' for current xxD photographers If accurate, the rumors seem to point to a 1.6 CF sensor, high fps, much improved AF, HD video and no increase in MP over the 50D (great for noise control). Hehehe.... time to start eating instant noodles again to save enough pennies. ;D ;D ;D

Please stop this thread.. ;D Better yet to totally delete it and re-start it 5 years from now....Please ;D Hehehe.... resistance is futile, partner! We'd just try to work much harder so we won't need to sell our remaining kidney. Another option is to switch to Sigma DSLRs, then we only need to buy a new body every 4 years or so. ;D

Hey whats with this, I am still in the process of agonizing and drooling over the need for bigger glass. Now they are tossing this puppy into the wish list as well, its just plain evil really.
The Dual Digic 4s must do wonders with the noise at higher ISOs if they have really bumped up the MP to 18 on a 1.6 crop sensor.
I think resisting this may be difficult.

I am looking for something that says its auto focus when used with 800mm 2X extender. Heh heh heh. Thank you Romy for the insight of the new 7D. You'll need a body that can autofocus at f/11. I've talked to a number of people and they do not see that happening. Best option is 1.4x extender on a 1-series body.
